<p>From a friend of mine in London:

"yeah i'm fine. was quite close - my girlfriend deciding not to take the tube to work this morning was very lucky.

our media's not saying much yet. i heard german tv has reported 90 dead, but they're only saying two here. also only one bus explosion is confirmed but there are other reports saying more.

one thing you can guarantee in an emergency is that your mobile phone won't work. all the networks went down instantly, which was pretty chaotic. a lot of land lines are also down, which i don't quite figure.

and they've cordoned off the whole city, which i can't even imagine - no trains in or out, no buses, roads blocked. i live in the east end so can walk home, but loads of people are properly stuck."</p>
