A Spanish airline has started running direct flights between Barcelona and Shanghai, and Xinhua expects the number of Chinese tourists visiting Spain each year to jump from 30,000 to 200,000 as a result. Shipments of colored baseball hats from China to Spain, we presume, will also skyrocket.
The flight, run by Spain's Air Plus Comet, runs weekly, leaving Barcelona at 10 pm local time on Friday and arriving at Pudong airport on Saturday afternoon. Xinhua, unfortunately, didn't say when the plane heads back to Spain. Cost for a round trip ticket is 549 euros, or around 6,000 yuan. Wednesday flights are expected to be added in October.
Another Spanish airline, Air Europa, started direct flights between Madrid and Shanghai in May.

BTW, that movie (pictured) is terrible and has nothing to do with the city of Barcelona or Spain. It's a talk-fest cum snooze-fest about two self-absorbed Americans abroad. Check out the real Barcelona!
Hmmm. I liked the movie. But, then again, I am a self-absorbed American living abroad.
hey! i'm form barcelona, i agree that the picture is awful!
anyways, i'm taking this flight in 2 weeks!
what is not said is that you leave shanghai saturday 10.pm and get to barcelona one sunday 4.30 am...
Sunday, 430am -- in other words it's party time in Barcelona!
Hey,
Don't bash Whit Stillman. Barcelona was one of his best films. It's not supposed to be a travel-guide to the city or Spain. I thought it was pretty funny. The guy who plays the dickhead military brother is brilliant, although he's since been reduced to the lamentable "Gilmour Girls".
