A Spanish airline has started running direct flights between Barcelona and Shanghai, and Xinhua expects the number of Chinese tourists visiting Spain each year to jump from 30,000 to 200,000 as a result. Shipments of colored baseball hats from China to Spain, we presume, will also skyrocket.
The flight, run by Spain’s Air Plus Comet, runs weekly, leaving Barcelona at 10 pm local time on Friday and arriving at Pudong airport on Saturday afternoon. Xinhua, unfortunately, didn’t say when the plane heads back to Spain. Cost for a round trip ticket is 549 euros, or around 6,000 yuan. Wednesday flights are expected to be added in October.
Another Spanish airline, Air Europa, started direct flights between Madrid and Shanghai in May.
