No surprise: Zhang Ziyi was hot in high school, too

Hot on the heels of a slew of Chinese celebrities having their mobile phone numbers published on web, someone went and posted celebrities' photos from their government ID cards -- and, naturally, the China Daily has reprinted several of them for our perusal:

Twenty-four singers, actors and TV personalities were involved, including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi (pictured), actress-turned-director Xu Jinglei, Ge You, and some of CCTV's most popular anchormen.

In a wave of curiosity that has swept the Internet, the black-and-white photos, obviously taken years ago, have been downloaded in huge numbers from the site where they first appeared, before being widely reposted on popular BBS forums.

ID photos in China are first taken at the age of 16, and then every 10 years after that. Some of the "celebrities" said they would take legal action against whoever posted the photos (although if China Daily is printing the pics, it doesn't seem like any legal action would be successful). "This is really an abnormal event," CCTV anchorman Zhao Zhongxiang said. "I can not bear it and I think I will seek legal help."
