DVD, watch, bag, football player: Very cheap!

duweiceltic.jpgShanghai Shenhua must drop their £800,000 (11.7 million RMB) price tag for defender Du Wei if he is to join Celtic, says boss Gordon Strachan.

The latest reports on the now long-running saga suggest that the Scottish Premier League club is interested in the 23-year-old but considers him an investment for the future, rather than an instant addition to its back four.

But, according to Xinhua, Shenhua owner Wu Jinan says the club have received a bid from Celtic, but it fell way short of their valuation of the star defender.

Shanghaiist feels any readers who are regular visitors to the city's popular Xiangyang (Fake) Market will be rather familiar with this state of affairs.

Elsewhere, Inter Shanghai lost 2-1 to Dalian Shide Sunday night at Shanghai Stadium, after conceeding an own goal thanks to a wicked deflection.

Over in Pudong, Shanghai Zobon lost by the same scoreline to Tianjin Teda on Saturday, with the Northern Chinese side netting the winner just five minutes from time.

Shenhua were playing in Chengdu tonight, but at the time of posting the match had yet to finish.
