dan, considering that most readers are english speakers who don't know chinese, it might be safe to keep the integrity of the site and exclude chinese posts for the time being however if you want that, i am sure there are many here in shanghai (or else where) who can and are willing to contribute nice blog, i love it (that's shanghai magazine becomes a little heavy recently, why don't you do a few cross-promotions with them? that could help to increase your awareness among expats very quickly)

Bingfeng, Yes, we have considered having Chinese posts. In fact, some posts do have Chinese: Note to NBA Jam Van: Yield to pedestrians! ‘We will not follow the Xintiandi development pattern’ It’s official: Movies on Tuesday half price in China Every Shanghaiist post could appear in Chinese. We have the functionality built into the site. But we lack people who can actually translate them into Chinese ... or people who would want to do it for free (none of our contributors are paid). Very few of our contributors can write in Chinese, so we would need to rely on outside help -- very generous outside help. And what about posts that are only in Chinese? No one has approached me about doing that yet. Derrick, Did you read the China Daily story we linked to? They don't mention the name of the brand. So, it's a crap shoot ... literally. Dan
