Whew! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who caught on the fact that That's new font is FUGLY. I can't believe they made such a bad design decision... It makes the whole magazine look like some high-school publication.

I have to qualify my earlier comment by saying that I do enjoy architect Christopher Choa's columns in That's Shanghai. Insightful and well-written looks at the city's design.

More mundane, bland nonsense... Expat rags are really boring

I am bewildered that That's Shanghai is trying to position its latest issue as a 'collector's edition'. What, exactly, as Shanghaiist has kindly pointed out, is so collectible about it? The stories are still completely mundane and continue to display a striking aversion to catchy leads and nutgraphs.

Haven't picked up SH/8days yet, but my experience with their 'sister' publications in Singapore (I-S) and bangkok (BK) has been satisfactory, if not exactly inspiring.

Looks like more of the same from Shanghai's expat rags, then.
