Boca truly is one of the more tragic closures in this city's recent history. I started going there for brunch summer 2004... the best freakin' French toast... can we have moment of silence please? >>sniff

Good call, Phil. I should've mentioned that the Patiala Pearl had relocated. I've been to the new venue too and it's a friendly place with great food. But I bet they wish they were still on Changshu Lu.

I may be out of date on this one, but as of about 6 weeks ago Patiala Pearl was still in existance, and still serving up the best Aloo Tikki Chaat in Shanghai, at the location it has occuppied since it moved out of Changshu Road at the end of 2003 (correct me if I'm wrong about the date). The address is: 418 Wuyi Road (just west of the junction with Dingxi), Gate 3-5. It's down an alley, and outside the expat green zone, but still just as good. And the staff are still unbelievably friendly to old customers. I hear you on Boca. Bummer.
