It's fun going to see an orchestra, and it's even more fun to be rocked back and forth by the guy sitting behind you for an hour as he taps his legs. Or is that the other way around. We forget.
The Cincinnati Symphony were in town -- at the Shanghai Grand Stage, site of the upcoming Michael Bolton concert (yay!) -- so we decided to charge our cultural batteries and pop along to see Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops playing classical soundtracks from classic movies.
According to their schedule, they also played two dates in Beijing and will play two in Singapore (why only one in Shanghai?). Those shows, like this one, presumably include the barritone Daniel Narducci (perfectly) booming out the Chinese national anthem which was really great, and also fifteen people singing along to the Titanic theme tune. Which was not.
If you are interested, the Cincinnati Pops are keeping track of their Asian travels with photos and a travelogue.
