Like Brad said, the language barrier is still high enough that I can go to just a few sources to get my info and still have a big leg up on anyone else (except Brad and other 中国通, hehe): SUS2, Livehouse News (with nifty RSS feed), Qiying Music BBS, Rockself, occasionally Shanghaining, Culture.sh.cn, RSS feeds of a major ticketing website, and then the random weblog or two, plus a flyer from Ark if I pass through Xintiandi near the start of the month, and maybe a phone call here and there.

If you want a little preview of the announcements I post on Shanghaiist, in these posts I'm pretty much just summarizing the information that I continually update on my online calendar.

Glad you could make it out.

You can get all the same information from Sus2 and Shanghai Underground Music BBSs, or the Yuyintang website. Of course, that's all in Chinese.

I'm in the process of setting up an English-language website/forum in cooperation with the Shanghai Underground Music Network, but in the meantime I'm sure Shanghaiist will continue to cover the concert announcements and reviews.

BTW, you're right -- SLIT rocked tonight. In my opinion they completely overshadowed Happy Avenue...not really what you want from the opening band, but nice for us in the audience.

Big ups to Micah for putting up info about the SLIT concert, it was fun times and a cool location. Micah, if so inclined, you should put up a little sub-site about the Music scene, you seem to know your stuff and the scene could really use a better source of information.
