@ ESG: Rules on the books mean nothing if they are not enforced. Which country is cleaner, US or China?

Even the idea that a city in China would ban any non-fossil fuel vehicle is absolutely ridiculous. China is suffering from extreme pollution problems. They need more electric bikes and electric scooters, not less. I've heard China is actually working hard to reduce dependance on fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse emmissions. Folks here in the USA need to do the same. China actually has more stringent emmission standards for their autos than the USA! USA has got to step up!!!

From what I have read, these bans are coming and going.

Someone told me about this story which shows how the ban was applied in Fuzhou, then removed due to a newer October 2004 law which gave bikes he legal status of vehicles. Here is the story.
I wouldn't be at ll surprised if we see further tinkering with the Beijing law, especially if some nobody thinks up the crazy idea of telling some government official or other that they "might be wrong". Gooood luck with that.
