Thanksgiving is Nov. 24 -- I know some Shanghai hotels are holding buffet dinners (usually about 300 kuai) but where else can we get down with some turkey? Anything particularly cool or delicious or weird (in a good way)? -- RS, Shanghai
Shanghaiist is tired and weak -- even more than usual -- because we are fasting for tomorrow's feast (we are doing the all-you-can-eat-and-drink deal at the Hongqiao Marriott for RMB 330). Luckily, John at Sinosplice kind of answered your question earlier today. He directed readers to listings at Smart Shanghai and Shanghai Expat. Not sure if the offerings listed there are weird enough for you -- if not, we could have our ayi cook for you. Now that would be an adventure.
Many of these dinners are likely booked up, so start your calling now.

The 'Ostrich' pizza at Pizza Hut is really turkey - the Mandarin name for the dish is "Da Niao" or "Big Bird" and something must have got lost in translation.
Speaking of "Lost in Translation" - I love that the Chinese title for the movie is "Lost in Tokyo".
The ostrich is turkey?! I didn't pay close attention to the commercial, so I didn't catch it, but that would explain a lot! I thought it was the greatest thing in the world that they were trying to pass off ostrich for Thanksgiving dinner.
The word on 火鸡 street is that the Marriot HQ will not serve stuffing... Shanghaiist may elect to bring his own.
Word on the street was wrong.
