McDonald’s will open its first drive-thru restaurant in Shanghai this month, frantically trying to keep pace with arch rival KFC, which already has two. Shanghai Daily has the inside scoop on what this drive-thru will be like: “The drive-thru will enable drivers to park in a special lane and order and pay without leaving the car.” Impressive. Planning on giving our city’s latest drive-thru a test run? Better make sure the family truckster is all filled up with gas. This McDonald’s is all the way out in Waigaoqiao. Waigao what? Evidently it’s in northeast Pudong. We’ll take their word for it.
