The look, the feel of ... Cotton's

cotton.jpgYou can almost hear the buzz surrounding the upcoming opening of the new Cotton's bar/restaurant in Shanghai all the way where Shanghaiist currently is holed up for the holidays. Wait ... no ... that's just the 3 a.m. train rolling by. (Damn jetlag.) But anyway, sources who happen to still be in Shanghai tell us that lots of people who enjoy a good drink and a good chat are talking about the impending return of one of the friendlier faces to grace the Shanghai scene. Contrary to popular belief, however, New Year's Eve is not the first chance you'll have to check out Cotton's new digs. Local party planners Matt & Flo are throwing a Christmas Eve bash there on -- you guessed it -- Christmas Eve (Saturday). Here are the details, ripped from the party email:

Time: Saturday, December 24, 2005 - 9.30pm till late

Place: Cotton's - 132 Anting Road (crossroad Jian Guo Road West)

Event/Theme: Christmas Party and first party at Cotton's brand new venue

Dress code: (Santa) Claus, Clausette and the elves.

Sound: DJ Paul London (UK), DJ Benzie (CH)

Admission: Free

No, we had never heard of "Clausette" either. We assume you should expect to see many people dressed in fur boots.

Please party hard, people. Perhaps then you won't notice the dearth of posts on this space over the next few days. And drink one for us -- we doubt we'll be doing too much holiday imbibing where we are.

Cotton's, 132 Anting Lu (near Jianguo Xi Lu), 安亭路132号 (近建国西路). Tel: 6433-7995.

Cotton has really outdone herself. The new location is bigger and better than the previous, and retains the comfortable atmosphere that made the original such a popular spot. The patio garden is enormous, and the bar is now located in a two-story 1930s villa. Go check it out and get in early on a very welcome (re)addition to the Shanghai bar scene.
