Because you could go to jail for eating one. The Shanghai Daily has this to say about new forms of ecstacy and K-meth:
Local drug authorities are warning people to be aware of pills with a funny picture, such as a smiling banana, or words like “love” printed on them.
They look like cute mints, but are actually ecstasy.
Shanghaiist wonders if they are as cute as Flintstone’s vitamins, because we thought those were about the cutest pills we’d ever seen. Shanghaiist was a bit baffled by one of the sentences in this report:
Users of those drugs account for 23 percent of all registered drug users in the city, according to police.
Upon closer inspection, “registered” here means those who have been registered as illegal drug users, which is a relief, because we’d hate to think that nearly a quarter of the people who use some type of drug are actually druggies. Read this report (in Chinese) to learn some more about the new crackdown and some of the places that got their hands slapped to the tune of 100,000 RMB.
