I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT GET THEIR DOGS STOLEN FROM THEM. I FEEL FOR THEM. I MYSELF WOULD KILL THEM IN A HEARTBEAT NO QUESTIONS ASKED IF THEY TRIED TO STEAL MY KID. OVER HER IN CANADA THERE ARE STRICT LAWS THAT PROTECT ANIMALS. ALOT PEOPLE CARRY GUNS FOR THEIR OWN PURPOSE OF COURSE HIDDEN. SOME OF THEM OF COURSE ARE MORANS AND LIKE TO SHOOT PEOPLE TO. ANYWAY BACK TO THE KIDS. I WONDER WHY THE GOVERNMENT GOES NOT PROTECT DOGS AND CATS. DOES CHINA HAVE MICROCHIPING AVAILABLE HERE THE COST IS $25-$40. PERHAPS THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD REDUCE THE FEES FOR HAVING A DOG AND CAT. HERE THE FEE IS $12.00 FOR A DOG THAT IS FIXED AND $22.00 FOR ONE THAT IS NOT. I ALMOST WONDER WHEN THE PEOPLE THAT ARE CRUEL TO DOGS AND BUTCHER THEM WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO START TO EAT PEOPLE? SINCE WE ARE OVER POPULATED ANYWAYS WHY NOT?

AGAIN. MY THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THE ONES WHO HAVE LOST THEIR BELOVED PET. I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.

MARY IN CANADA

Last time I ate dog hot pot in Beijing. The server brought out some small plate that had meat and a bone..put this in the hot pot and then brought out the sliced meat. Later I asked what was that first plate. They said its dog penis. Well that warranted a full glass of bai jiu. By the way where is the dog restaurant you refer to in Shanghai...I have not found any locals there that have heard of one?

On the subject of health, there was a (pretty damning) report by the BBC on the health system- people who can't afford the medical bills and extra costs , because the gov has neglected to spend money on healthcare and the trusty SOEs aren't there anymore. probably greater incentives for people to watch their health and stop eating poisonous hotpot? Well, this being China, I'm not sure if that reasoning would work...
