This Washington Post article caught our attention because we’re a bit unused to hearing about text messaging in a place as backwards as the United States, but evidently, they’ve finally caught on. Towards the end of this article we found this:
In Europe and Asia, where text-messaging started earlier, emotional messaging is more common, according to Tegic. Among Germans, 70 percent said “I love you” or “I miss you” over text; 13 percent of Italians and 12 percent of Chinese subscribers admitted to breaking up over text.
A cursory scour of the internet came up with this example of a Chinese SMS breakup. And if you need some inspiration, what better place to find it than in music, and towards that end, there is no better reference than this website, entitled “Breakup Songs — The Best of the Best Breakup Songs”. It’s just a matter of time, we think, before divorces are initiated via SMS. Then we’ll know for sure the world has gone to hell.
