Stock Exchange Bar! Now with lack of direction and wet cement!
We’ve written about the Stock Exchange once before, back when the inimitable Princes of the Night were in town (much to the excitement of a curiously large number of our female friends in Shanghai).
Not sure how things have been going at the Tongren Lu nightspot since then, though we have heard of the occasional all-you-can-drink deal for just RMB 50 -- that’s less than the price of one beverage in many of this city’s establishments. Full marks for this initiative.
But we felt the Stock Exchange deserved another mention, for no other reason than the interesting advertising campaign that the bar is running at the moment. We found this particular notice in a recent print edition of China Daily. Aside from mentioning location and contact details, the text of the ad reads:
The space is large and has a versatility which could be mistaken for lack of direction, but which gives the venue plenty of options once the cement cladding has dried.
No Chinglish errors here. No spelling mistakes. Not even a split infinitive. Just some straight-out, untrammeled weirdness.
