Dontsayitdontsayitdontsayit ... BACKSTREET'S BACK!

backstreet boys shanghai.jpgWe have front row tickets to see the Boys next Wednesday, which we scooped up absolutely gratis, as usual from a friend of a friend of a colleague of a tennis partner of a turtle of a friend ... well some crazy fellow didn't want the tickets anyway.

Unforuntately, Shanghai Daily tells us that self-combustion is no longer featured as a finale:

They no longer literally explode on stage but the big boy band of the 1990s will rock the Shanghai Grand Stage to its rafters next week.

Our ear-drums might explode though (with all the screaming).

"I think now we've gotten older and the music doesn't really lend itself to the big acrobatics and pyrotechnics," says A. J. McLean in an e-mail interview. "It's all about going back to basics again, just going back to good, quality music and having fun on stage. There are a couple of songs, like 'Poster Girl' and 'My Beautiful Woman,' where we do some choreography."

Be still my beating heart. We'll let you know how it goes (as if it won't be perfection on stage). You are, my fire ...

They weren;t bad. In the field of pop music they certinaly arent; bottom of the barrel.

The music was what it was, and the one that could sing can still sing, and the one that did nothing still does nothing.

It was a full house and the crowd were ecstatic/crazy, and the whole thing was incredibly entertaining as the audience just loved the band.

They didn't take themselves seriously at all.

There was a middle-aged woman sitting near me, well, stan that didn't stop bopping and screaming the whole time. She brought her son along and her played with his flashing light patiently and also had a nap. I presume that woman puts her son off to school, gets the subway twice a day and works a dull job. At least they can give her a shred of hope. I wonder if she teaches her son to sing-a-long to the CDs.
