The selection of Ten Catchwords was the results of tracking studies of 15 newspapers such as People’s Daily in 2005, covering about 500 million characters in the 15 newspapers published from Jan.1 to Dec.31, 2005.
The 15 newspapers selected based on factors such as circulation, media value, readership, distribution location, distribution cycle and coverage etc. are (in alphabetical order of Chinese spelling): Beijing Youth Daily, Beijing Daily, Beijing Evening News, Legal Daily, Guangming Daily, Guangzhou Daily, Huaxi Metropolitan News, Global Times, Tianjin Evening News, Southern Weekend, People’s Daily, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, Yangcheng Evening News, Yangtse Evening Post and China Youth Daily.
