It's Spring Festival time and that means one product has been flying off of China's shelves much, much faster than normal. No, it's not fish oil or Nao Bai Jin. It's -- you guessed it -- adult diapers:
The number of train seats for people returning home for family reunions are limited because of the huge demand in the period. It means large numbers of passengers have to buy standing-only tickets and have to jam into all corners of carriages, even in toilets.
This often makes it almost impossible for passengers to pass through and reach the toilets and they are forced to go without relieving themselves for the whole journey.
Shanghaiist loves the holidays!
This is a great excuse for us to link to the video feed of the classic Saturday Night Live spoof advertisement for Oops! I Crapped My Pants adult undergarments, which "outperformed every bladder and bowel control product on the market today."
Our favorite line:
"Imagine this pitcher of iced tea is really a gallon of your feces."
We also enjoy this exchange:
"How do you know so much about Oops! I Crapped My Pants?""I'm wearing them. And I just did."
Think of this sketch and smile as you travel this holiday season. And be careful -- it's very likely that someone sitting next to you "just did," as well.
