Have our worst fears been realized? Google.com isn't loading in Shanghai currently. It works fine using a proxy server. Google.cn is loading, but it is slow and its results are crap. Let's hope this is just a hiccup and not a full-on heart attack. This is not cool.
UPDATE: Curiously, Google News loads fine.
UPDATE II: Google.com started loading again sometime in the middle of the morning. All is right with the world.

Google News unblocked in China?

Electrolist: Underground/overground clash again

This was the trial run, to cut out google.com from Chinas Internet. The next thing you are going to see will be, that google.com begins resolving to google.cn.
The Chinese censors are so predictable, it is almost boring.
Cynical. And maybe true. BUT I think since Google comes on and off all the time, it may have just been one of those wonderful glitches that happens all the time as China moves info around on their DNS servers.
google.com and google.co.uk work fine for me.
dang and throw in wordpress.com - argh. still off i hope its not gone for good. googled (after it finally came back) and found wp's been banned since jan 31. irksome.
