'Higher authorities' halt hot girl-on-girl train action

We doubt they mean God. Remember what we said a week ago about female-only cabins on trains that run between Shanghai and Beijing? Well, forget everything we told you. That plan has been derailed:

Railway authorities began offering the compartments last week on all trains travelling between Shanghai and Beijing, in an attempt to cut down on sexual harassment.

The Shanghai Railway Station announced it would stop offering the compartments.

Officials at the Shanghai Railway Station said that they received orders from higher authorities to stop providing the service, but refused to discuss the matter further.

"How could they cancel a new service that they only started a week ago," said a disappointed young local woman, surnamed Ruan, who is in favor of the compartments.
