Best Iberian blog idolises bevy of Chinese beauties

zhang_ziyi_wet.jpgWe all have our list of favourite China blogs (just check the left hand panel for some), for example the clever and always-entertaining Wanbro. When feeling the need to brush up our Spanish skills, we love to check out Chinochano. The language is rarely complex (thankfully -- we really need to brush up our Spanish language skills), but even if you are not a cunning linguist then you will enjoy his latest excellent article, in which he has admirably taken the time to compare and contrast Chinese Super-Beauties. Gong Li, Zhang Zi Yi, Maggie Cheung, Cecilia Cheung, Cheng Hong, Lucy Liu, Bai Ling, Michelle Yeoh, Valeria Chow, Shu Qi, Zhou Xun, Zhao Wei, Li Bingbing, Rene Liu, Wang Fei, Anita Mui, and (gasp) Ruan Lingyu are all pictorally honoured. Now that's blogging.

We'll have to be sticking with Zhang Ziyi as we love her (OK, maybe just me), although it's hard to pass up the pure zesty attitude of Ms. Hotness Lucy Liu. Speaking of hard, Bai Ling ain't half bad ...

Alright we'll stop. In a minute.

Just because you are in China does not mean you have to subscribe to the hopelessly antedeluvian gender politics of the country.

Miss World and other objectivisations of female beauty are accepted here without even the lightest sprinkling of irony, but that doesn't make it acceptable to leave what we have learned at the door.

Isn't this kind of thing just a bit, well, pathetic?

And it's "pictorially".

Maybe your attitude is not so surprising after all.

Bai Ling? Dear lord, that women looks like a STD.

Can't agree with you more, bababa!

Congratulations on your well-honed style of feeling 'above' everyone else.

"Miss World and other objectivisations of female beauty are accepted here without even the lightest sprinkling of irony, but that doesn't make it acceptable to leave what we have learned at the door."

Right.

1. there is no sexism anywhere else in the world.

2. As if this is sexism anyway, you moron.

Zat is quite welcome to compile a list of 12 Chinese hunks.

Don't be such an idiot.

Oh, and congratsx2. You picked out one word I spelled incorrectly. Feel good.

Further:
"Antedeluvian". You are truly trying too hard to show... something. I could have used "antedeluvian" in my artice, but... it's called being a mature intelligent person NOT making such efforts to show... whatever it is you are advertising yourself as.

Finally:
I must enforce, strongly, how intellectually lacking a person must be to leap on the idea of appreciating good-looking people (men or women), and aiming to condemn it as 'oh so distastetful', like a 14 year old girl at a 'debate class' in hhigh school. Especially not having the balls to reveal your real name. Immature AND cowardly.

Didn't my assumed name give you a clue? Just trying to raise some standards around here.

I am not always quite so humourless, it's just that time of the month.

Not my time of the month, I'm always this tightly strung -- I am British, dontcha know.

If you are trying to raise the intellectual standard of Shanghaiist writers, you've got a looot of work to do.

Thanks, thanks, thanks a lot for all your praises! Today I received my first visitors from Hawaii and Tasmania thanks toy you, feel soooo good...

Hope some day there will be a Beijingist! with this buildings in the grey and black logo:

-Worker's Stadium
-Monument to People's Heroes
-This candies made with little crabapples (?)
-The five "fuwas"

"Zat is quite welcome to compile a list of 12 Chinese hunks."
Don't be a little child that just because I don't agree with your aesthetic taste, you come back with this why don't you do this and that.
Bai Ling does look awful to me. Could hardly imagine someone would like her style...yuck!

None of the above was aimed at you, Ms. Self-obsession.

I was saying to 'tedious' that Zat can complie a list of male hunks as I have female hotties -- ie the whole thing is NOT sexist.

Get it???

I do not like Bai Ling at all.

Did you mean "Anti-Diluvian"? Now THAT'S irony.

If Bai Li is a "walking STD", I want to catch it!!!

Sorry for the typo... Bai LING.

I think I detect some jealousy here, no?
