As if you needed us to tell you, it's Oscar night morning. We have one eye on the TV right now -- Dragon TV, and at least one other local network -- are showing a "live"[1] feed of the red carpet coverage from E! (with Chinese commentary). Why not watch on our satellite? Because it never freakin' works. CCTV usually replays the Oscars Monday evening, although we haven't found confirmation of that online yet (anyone out there got the details?). In past years CCTV's coverage has been in English with Chinese subtitles.
Jen Chung and Karen Wilson are liveblogging the Oscars over at Gothamist.
Let's give it up for gay cowboys.
[1] We have live in quotes because there seems to be a bit of a delay in what we see and what Jen and Karen are blogging.
UPDATE: All the live coverage appears to have stopped. Someone has told us that CCTV-6 will air an Oscars "report" at 9:39 pm. We are not completely sure what this means.
UPDATE II: CCTV-6 is showing a rebroadcast now (it started at 10:30 am). It is dubbed, by one guy. Wonder how the jokes translate. Especially all the Brokeback ones.

Ugh. Two years in a row a very bad film takes Best Picture. Are the Oscars turning into the Grammy's?
Although the show itself has been pretty good. The Daily Show influence is a very, very welcome one.
