Well, in the Xingfu, Panyu area you have Koala and Moresun, Miro, Charlies, Green Dragon and a few others.

bars/clubs near shuffle, not many other than arch and c's bar. but in our experience destination bars have done quite well in shanghai: bar rouge, barbarossa, vip room, pegasus, face (sans maoming nightlife), windows jing'an, cotton's, are just some that come to mind. others have failed miserably: mei/volcano, duomo/JA lounge, red, madame zung (no help from the fuxing park triumvirate), pu-j, space, etc. of course, it's all in the execution

Well, of course it is near something. I meant nightlife. It's interesting to learn the history of that area, but, in 2006, what other decent bars or clubs are a short walk from Shuffle's location? It's been our experience that "destination bars" (one's all by themselves) don't do well in Shanghai. There is strength in numbers in this city.

interesting that you find a bar located in the french concession, near xujiahui and jiaotong uni "not really close to much of anything"? believe it or not, xingfu rd and its vicinity played a significant role in shanghai nightlife circa late 90s, home to the venerable DDs club as well as goya martini bar
