Google Video: Too hot for China?

googlevideoinchina.jpgSo, we saw this post titled "423 KPH on the Shanghai Maglev" over on Gridskipper:

How things change. Last year, we wrote about the Shanghai Airport Maglev train that connects Pudong International Airport with an outlying train station at the mind-boggling speed of 270 miles per hour. At that time, we were somewhat skeptical — originally considering the (now disproved) claim that the Maglev would make the trip at 534 miles per hour. But the train’s been getting heavy use after all, and it actually is an impressive feat of engineering. In the clip above, traveler Aaron Dods documents his trip through the Shanghai exurbs on the Maglev at 423 kph (262 miles) per hour. Impressive and speedy.

We clicked the play button on the embedded video player, and got this message:

The video is currently not available. Please try again later.

We thought that was kind of weird, so we went to the video clip's page over at Google Video. That's when we got this message:

Thanks for your interest in Google Video.

Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn't available in your country.

We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience.

That's when we decided that everyone should use YouTube.
