Danwei TV: Blogging with a boom mic

danweitv.jpgEver wonder what your favorite China bloggers look and sound like in the flesh? No? Well, what if they were wearing a hard hat and talking into a boom microphone? Our friends from the north, Danwei, have launched Danwei TV, a classy looking video blog that files reports from around China's capital. Here is how Jeremy Goldkorn (pictured) describes the first installment:

The short program shows the current state of four of Beijing's new mega buildings:

- Rem Koolhaas' new CCTV building
- Paul Andreu's National Theater
- The National Swimming Center or 'Water Cube' designed by PTW
- The Olympic Stadium designed Herzog & de Meuron

It's worth watching. Shanghaiist loves guerilla journalism like this (when done well). The possibilities are seemingly endless. Any blogger with the bandwidth and initiative can start up a mini media conglomerate that can be read, seen and heard throughout the world. Heady times, indeed.

Shanghaiist is interested in hearing from local podcasters and video bloggers who might want to team up. Email us at tips(at)shanghaiist.com.
