Shanghai, prepare yourself for a wax attack

waxjackiechan.jpgThis story tells us that Shanghai's Madam Tussauds museum will open May 1 and feature 21 wax figures of "celebrities like Jackie Chan." And we always though Jackie was one of a kind. What other celebrities are like Jackie Chan, you ask? Here's a sampling:

  • Princess Diana
  • Bill Gates
  • David Beckham
  • Tom Cruise
  • Albert Einstein
  • Yang Liwei, astronaut
  • Yang Zhengning, Nobel Prize winner
  • Liu Xiang, Olympic hurdling champion
  • Yao Ming
  • Andy Lau
  • Jay Chou

These won't be boring wax figures just standing there looking all waxy, either. They will be put "in context to help visitors appreciate their achievements." Maybe they'll show Tom Cruise throwing a hissy fit over a cartoon.

The Shanghai museum is the sixth Madame Tussauds worldwide. The story said entry prices for the museum will be "consistent with its other branches." An adult ticket in London costs US$38.56. Don't save a space in line for Shanghaiist.
