Via the ever-informative (and concise) Pacific Epoch:
A 24-year old Shanghai man is auctioning his soul on Alibaba's online auction site Taobao, reports Sina. The item has received 25 bids so far, with the maximum bid at 31 Yuan. Taobao public relations manager Tao Ran said that many unusual things are for auction among Taobao's 20 million listings and that Taobao does not support soul transactions on the site.
Hell, even Bart Simpson got $5, and that was 11 years ago. Here are some quotes from "Bart Sells His Soul":
Milhouse: Every religion says you have a soul, Bart. Why would they lie? What would they have to gain?Bart: Well if your souls real where is it?
Milhouse: It's kinda in here... and when you sneeze, that's your soul trying to escape. Saying god bless you crams it back in. And when you die, it squirms out and flies away!
Bart: What if you die in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean.
Milhouse: Oh, it can swim, it's even got wheels, incase you die in the desert and have to drive to the cemetary.Milhouse: I traded your soul for Alf pogs. Remember Alf? He's back. In pog form.
The worst thing about selling your soul? Itchy and Scratchy aren't funny anymore.
