Mig-29 seized during routine customs sweep

The traffic in this city sucks. We have bitched and moaned about it, and then moaned some more. Apparently, someone out there shares our view and has taken the matter into his own hands. Or, at least, tried to.

According to Sohu, two days ago, custom agents at Hong Kong’s Kuiyong seaport, during a routine inspection of its cargo holdings, found a Mig-29 perched on its dock. Now, that would come in handy during rush hour. The fighter jet was without an engine or combat gears. The area was quickly cordoned off, and someone launched an investigation ... somewhere. Details are very sketchy at this point, as officials remain pretty tight lipped about the whole deal. Shanghaiist’s repeated requests for an interview or an official statement were denied. (Well, we didn’t really request anything -- just assume that they’d be denied anyway.)

Not surprisingly, so far no one has come forward to claim the warplane, perhaps it’ll turn up on Ebay or Taobao in a few weeks. Shanghaiist has just had its bike stolen, a supersonic fighter jet would be a nice upgrade. We are waiting with bated breath, and hope the bidding starts at 100 kuai.
