Note to drunk foreigners: Break a city cop's nose, go to jail

shanghaichinajailindia.jpgFor all you angry-drunks out there, a warning: An Indian man just got convicted of obstructing a policeman's duty. He did this by breaking the guy's nose, throwing his walkie-talkie on the ground, and pounding on the engine of the cop's car or motorcycle. This happened on November 12 of last year. Rajenda Singh Banu Singh, 32, was drunk and made a pass at a woman walking by and when her friend tried to stop him, things got a bit heated, which is when the police showed up. The report (in Chinese) says that being drunk is no excuse for breaking the law, but Mr. Singh, who appeared in court on April 5, seems to be sorry for what he did and the court might consider shortening his sentence. Regardless, we can be pretty sure that he's not going to have any good pizza for awhile.
