The East is Red: Internet Censorship Map

internetcensorshipmap.jpg
Via AsiaPundit, we learn of The Atlantic's story and related map about internet censorship. (The map is here and the story is here, but requires subscription. Internet Censorship Explorer, however, has posted mirrors of the entire story and the map.) The basic gist of the story is that the internet censorship situation in China sucks and that the situation in the rest of the world -- even "free" democracies -- is getting worse.

What is censored most in China? Porn. Thirty-nine percent of porn sites are blocked, followed by Sites on Major Historical Events (14%), Hate Speech (13%), Gay/Lesbian (11%) and Email Providers (10%). News Outlets came in at 6%, tied with Provocative Attire.
