From Reuters:
Around the world, middle-aged and elderly men tend to be more satisfied with their sex lives than women in the same age group, a survey released on Wednesday said.
OK, so what? On the second page, we read this:
"Pleasure is not part of the story" in sexually conservative cultures in the Far East -- China, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, Laumann said. "Procreation is the rationale for sex. Many women ... characterize sex as dirty, as a duty, something they endure" -- and often stop having it after age 50.
And that sounds just like the Shanghai we know and love. And Taiwan? Fuhgeddaboutit -- prudes, all of them! And Japan? Well, that less than one percent population growth rate clearly indicates that the Japanese have forgotten what sex is.
While we're on the subject, we saw a guide on sex in Shanghai on worldsexguide.org, which had some useful Chinese phrases we'd like to share with you, in the spirit of open source coding, sharing information, and awesome sex:
kan shan qu hen xing gan - you look very sexy
ke yi pian yi yi dian ma - can you make it a little cheaper ?
ni kan shan qu zai xia tien - you look very summery
"Summery?"

Hi,
I think you're a bit off the mark with regards to women's attitude to sex in Japan. Having lived here for many years, I can assure you that japanese women knows how to enjoy good sex. They are very liberal, given that their culture is rooted in shintoism, rather than confucianism or christianity. Population growth rates are usually connected with economic and life style issues, not sex. klimmer.
