OK, last month we learned about a Dalian factory that turns corpses into art, or at least what some people might consider art. And now the curious have their chance to see, and touch, the real thing (well, it might be the real thing -- some people think the "corpses" are fake). The upcoming “Corpse Exhibition” is going to open in Shanghai on April 28 after touring many major cities in China including Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha and Shenyang.
The Shanghai Morning Post reports (in Chinese) that this exhibition is going to display 21 plasticized bodies put in various poses that dead bodies don't usually try. The bodies were reportedly filled with materials that replaced bodily fluids and fat, making the bodies durable for exhibition and study.
Lei Lei from Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums said, “there are 10 bodies in this exhibition going to be exposed to the public for the first time.”
The “Corpse Exhibition” has sparked some controversy in China. Shanghaiist thinks the corpses look disturbing sometimes, and a little scary, but we will for sure go and check this out. And of course we won't steal testicles or any other body parts. That would just be wrong.
Exhibition: Real Body-Mystery and Health will be showing at Shanghai Worker’s Cultural Palace from April 28 until May 14. 120 Xizang Zhong Lu, tel: 6322 6155. 上海市工人文化宫,西藏中路120号. Tickets: RMB 60.

This isnt a Chinese thing. Check out http://www.bodyworlds.com
Gunther Von Hagan has been doing it for years. It is his original technique that first produced plastinated bodies. This may be a copycat or even just one of his labs as he does this all over the world; oddly enough, often from Central Asia.
in china even the dead bodies are fake.
TW, you sound like a bitter bitch, did the dead bodies ever harm your feelings?
It's a German thing to be more precise. Like Lin Side mentioned it was Dr. Gunther Von Hagen who invented this technology called 'plastination' about 29 years ago in 1977. His "Koerperwelten" (German for "bodyworlds") exhibitions had caused quite a sensation in Europe. Regarding this Dalian thing - it might be connected to him, as it is a known fact that he 'sources' in China. A couple of years ago he built a factory somewhere in China. Maybe it's the same factory.
actually this guy is a dutch pathologist (gunther van den hagen)who has an corpse factory in dalian cause he is short of volunteering european bodies....
I think jac was right on spot, sorry I didn't mention Dr. Gunther Von Hagen's name in the post. I also think this exhibition was actually more operated by local authorities after its first exhibition in Beijing.
Zat Liu - you're right, dead bodies can be so cruel. I admit they have taunted me mercilessly in the past (but not quite as wittily as you did)
tw, I really need to pass my sincere condolence to you here, being tortured by dead corpses, what's worse than that?!
being mugged by a hamster?
hahaha! that actually makes me laugh (sorry for being not empathetic), looks like you have a lot of queer awful experience, tw, care to share more with us?
