May Holiday: High time for weddings ... and wedding crashers?
If you are a wedding crasher, time to put on your game face. According to Shanghai Daily, during the weeklong May Day holiday (that’s next week for those of you keeping score at home), 30,000 local couples will tie the knot -- and be forever removed from Windows Too’s email list ... maybe.
Why May Day in particular? A nod to the young couple’s proletariat upbringing perhaps? Maybe, but we hear it has something to do with the otherwise stressful work week and all the out-of-towner guests not being able to get here. Either way, lots of people are getting hitched. If next week you see a long line of stretched limos driving by, it’s more likely to be your neighbor sitting in the car than say, George Bush or Jacque Chirac. BTW, we are also advising everyone to buy a set of ear plugs. Our ear drums are still ringing from all the fire crackers back during the Chinese New Year.
Now for those aspiring wedding crashers, Shanghaiist went to the movie The Wedding Crashers' website and found a few pearls of wisdom, in case you guys need a quick refresher course.
- Fight the urge to tell the truth.
- Every female wedding guest deserves a wedding night.
- Always pull out in time.
- Never hit on the bride! It’s a one-way ticket to the pavement.
Wise words indeed, especially the last one.
On a serious note, if by chance you’re getting married next week, Shanghaiist would like to extend our most heart-felt well wishes, and our 红包 is in the mail.
