Now that Shanghaiist has firmly established itself and is roundly recognized as a boob lover, we bring you this bit of deliciously titillating news: Hooters, the casual American restaurant chain, known for its scantily clad, buxom young waitresses, and not much else, is opening its second Shanghai location … in Pudong. The first one, in Gubei, opened in 2004.
According to FemmeFatales, a site dedicated to celebrating “alluring women of pop culture”:
In a bold strike against totalitarian food choices and toward democratic freedom at its finest the news has just broke that another Hooters is opening in China. One year into their (presumably) five year plan, Hooters describes the atmosphere thusly: “Hooters Girls hula-hooping and singing, open kitchen with boisterous cooks; rock and roll playing from the jukebox; cold beer flowing and sports on television.” They also include their manifesto: “Hooters is delightfully tacky, yet unrefined.” For those of you planning a vacation the new branch opens on May 16th at the Super Grand Mall in Shanghai Pudong.
While the restaurant scene in Shanghai can hardly be described as “totalitarian”, another outfit where patrons can count on the service of eager young waitresses wearing a hearty smile and little else will always be … roundly welcomed.
Hooters is located on the first floor of 正大广场 (Superbrand Mall), 168 Lu Jia Zui Xi Lu, Pudong.
