The typhoon's powerful wind is expected to bring Shanghai showers tonight, however, the full brunt of the storm won't directly hit the city. Winds are expected to hit Force 6 to Force 8 in the city over the next two days.
The Beaufort scale defines force 8 winds as: "39-46mph. Twigs broken from trees. Cars veer on road."
The thought of cars veering on the road in Shanghai is an idea that is too difficult to imagine. That said, force 9 is described as "Light structure damage", so we're hoping it doesn't climb to 47mph, for fear of "mini whirlwinds" and "shards falling down from glass walls".
The Shanghai TV station just said on the telly that schools will be closed tomorrow. But you still have to get up and go to work. Yes you do. Yes you do. Yes ...

Your report regarding no school tomorrow is wrong...thanks for the false hopes....ahhh
Sorry Glenny! I should have said 'not all' schools. Maybe it was just very young children's schools. You'll have to invent an illness - or of course stick to that magical "I think I have a cold, Mum".
aya... i got my hopes up too. hehe
Don't feel like getting out of my room in 1 1/2 hrs to go to class. The wind is so strong.
