Racquet Club changes policies regarding ayis and buses

A Shanghaiist commenter pointed out that the Shanghai Racquet Club has adjusted the page on its website that earlier this week said ayis and other domestic helpers were required to sit in the back of club buses and would be treated as "sub load" cargo, required to vacate buses should club members need their seats. Shanghaiist and some other websites pointed out on Monday that the Racquet Club may want to rethink its policy. Well, it looks like they did:

Contrary to recent advice provided to SRCA residents, we now confirm that AYI's will be permitted to use this service as follows:

AYI's must present a valid Bus Pass on entering the bus on each journey.
Bus passes will be valid for a period of 6 months.
Residents will be required to fill out the uthorization for the Ayi to register (and have a pass made up) at the SRCA gate house between the hours of 10 ~ 4PM Monday to Thursday.
Ayi's will be required to show their PRC ID card at the time of registering.
The cost for a bus pass, payable in cash at the time of submitting the registration will be:
3 months - RMB 500
6 months - RMB 1,000

We enjoy the "Contrary to recent advice provided to SRCA residents" part. It's not contrary to recent advice, it is contrary to what was published as the Club's policy on the Club's official website earlier this week. It is very possible, as one commenter mentioned, that the Club changed this policy a while ago and just neglected to update its website. Now that everything is updated, we trust everyone is happy ... except maybe the Racquet Club's webmaster.
