We bring awful news: Mobile karaoke

No karaoke.JPGAmongst the technical jargon on the Technology Marketing Coorporation's article, this part brought us out in a cold sweat:

The C626 chip is optimized for low power consumption and high performance, providing key features such as MPEG-4 decoder and analog codec for video and audio playback and recording. The chip also included Chipnuts' proprietary and unique MINI-MTVTM feature enabling true mobile Karaoke.

Any time ... any place ... you may now be subject to the soulful croonings of a local teenager (or anyone who enjoys a good S.H.E hit, for that matter). Not that they're all as bad as this girl, we hope.

This will be good news for certain Shanghaiist contributors who love to belt out a classic hit every now and then, and had this hobby halted between 2 and 8 a.m. not long ago. This will be bad news for anyone whose sanity is already perilously close to complete disintegration.

Chipnuts......didn't know you work in high-tech industry, Nick.

I accompanied Chipnuts' sales team on some promotional trips, and apparently the Karaoke concept offers some mouth-watering prospects to several major Chinese system houses. So, in-situ howling is coming, I suppose.

To non-Karaoke-men like myself: take heart, fellas, and go grab that sound-proof headset from Bose!

There is a new online karaoke jukebox http://www.internetkaraoke.net which contains a library of over 7,000 karaoke songs to sing along to. Looks the part :) You can get 5 free credits by using the promo code 'NEW'. Enjoy :)
