We’re pretty sure a week of hate mail leading up to a show housing a front-man who’s known for putting beer bottles up his whoo-ha, Bavarian punk and Brit-rock from Korea at least sounds interesting -- whether or not the latest GigShanghai podcast lives up to it is still up for discussion. With the loudest week Shanghai has seen since we launched the show (three punk bands scheduled), we also bring in minimal house and bluesy jazz. Plus, we have another go at Bar Rouge all the while trying to get B6 and Coco into bed. And did we mention having Black Eyed Peas tickets to give away?
Show goes as follows:
00:41 – “We didn’t attack Tang Hui ...”
1:38 – “If you have an open stage … on a slow night … why not…”
1:53 – “The minute you start attacking the local musicians …”
2:13 -- "It' s going to be a loud week in Shanghai."
2:38 – “You don’t play 85 shows … and not put on a good show.”
2:50 – NoOpinion clip
5:10 – “I’m trying to take a different angle …”
6:01 – Jackson Black clip
7:06 – “There are a lot more underground parties going on …”
7:42 – “We’re planning on doing some workshops (for) producing your own music …”
9:01 – Pojangmacha clip
10:38 – “If you’ve never seen a Top Floor Circus show, you should …”
11:27 – The Shanghaiist Pick of the Week -- Top Floor Circus clip
13: 17 – “Without the music, they would have no reason to simulate anal intercourse with a beer bottle”
14:17 – Toby Mack Band clip
15:23 – “Everybody in this town is sleeping with each other except for the musicians”
16:16 – SMZB clip
17:16 – “Here’s what we got for the week’s rundown.”

I don't understand why you say Bar Rouge is hurting Shanghai's music scene. If they were not there to sponge up the euro-trash and wanna-be-HK-celeb whore crowd, we'd suffer more of these fools at venues we do like. Long live Bar Rouge!
You've got a point.
While 99% of those that attend are wankers, there's that 1% that might be new to town and simply not know better.
Most bands here would kill for a fraction of what most spend a night at BR.
But again-you're right...it's like Shanghai's own little social-inbreds sieve.
