Government promotes 'matchmaking date etiquette'

matchmaking.JPGWe have learned in the past that many single people in the city (sometimes with the aid of their parents) are desperately looking for a mate and massive matchmaking events are organized for the singles because of the huge demand. However, there are many problems with matchmaking events, too. Lily Marriage Introduction Company in Changning District finds many singles don’t know "matchmaking date etiquette", like not to ignore your date (it's becoming clear why some of these people are single).

According to this report (in Chinese) from the Youth Daily, the staff of the agency will give instructions to clients before they start dating, such as civil expressions used during the awkward first moments of a date and how to use euphemisms even if you are not satisfied with your date. Staff will also give advice regarding your attire. It’s reported that clients’ date etiquette has improved since the etiquette class has been opened for a week (um, how do they know this? ... are dates chaperoned?). Therefore, the Civil Administration Department of Changning District decided to promote this class. Because who knows more about romance than the government?
