Xu Jinglei and Soccer: Gotta be some guy's wet dream
Want to meet the person behind (arguably) the most popular blog in the world? Actress/director/blogger Xu Jinglei will be meeting the public in Shanghai this weekend as part of the "Football & Film" party being thrown by Chinese-language city website Metroer.com in the outdoor area at Hong Kong New World Tower on Huaihai Lu near Madang Lu. Xu is promoting her new film Dreams May Come (《梦想照进现实》) and we're not sure if "meeting" actually means shaking hands or just standing on a stage and waving. But anyway, she'll be there.
Details, in Chinese, can be found here. The festivities, which run Friday through Sunday are in conjunction with Metroer's one-year anniversary (we think) -- congratulations, guys! Here's the schedule of events, all outside at Hong Kong New World Tower:
- June 30, 5-10 pm: 3-on-3 soccer tourney on a mini 10-by-15 meter pitch. Also some skills challenges.
- July 1, noon to 10 pm: 3-on-3 soccer tourney continues.
- July 1, 11 pm-1 am: Watch the World Cup on a big screen.
- July 2, 12-6 pm: More 3-on-3 soccer. Semi-finals and finals.
- July 2, 9-10 pm: Xu Jinglei meets the public.
You know, Shanghaiist is celebrating a one-year anniversary soon, too. Maybe we should get the people behind Metroer to organize our party.
