Let me guess - you're a new artist in town? Tanghui is the best in town in comparison to what? Live Bar? YYT? No one said TH isn't nice, and they're doing loads for local acts - but a the best venue for new bands? Was really sorry to hear that the 30-40 rmb charge set you back. Crank.

The white toy that posted that silly comment about wanting the bring back the former tang hui location... man, you are being ridiculous! The new Tang has the best vibe in the city right now, better than the old one ever did. How can your podcast vanity project even take that tack? Anyway, fuck yall if you were mad at that old guy. The party upstairs went on for hours and hosted two floors of people totally willing to embrace that weird minimal shit that 75% of us have never heard before. In terms of a crowd of people open to hearing new music, the new Tang Hui venue is the best doing it. They should start giving their performers better salaries and friends on the guest list though.

Bass (the sound, not the fish :P) travels quite a distance, is annoying as fuck and can't easily be blocked with earplugs. It's no fun living next to or near a pumpin club... Ask anyone who lives in the apartment block above Mural, which is why I avoid it. What's bullshit and what's not is another matter, it's hard to test unless you're in that person's shoes. Racist neighbours? Perhaps. Then again, there's plenty locals going to Tang Hui too. Responsible clubbing, anyone?

someone should just find the so-called neighbors and stay at there place one night observing the noise level. this might be not be entirely feasible or realistic, but i sure would like to know what's truth and what's bullshit.

@ bob....i assume you have never been to tanghui, because like "Anonymous Bar Manager" wrote, you can hear nothing in front of the door...so its not because of the noise...maybe because of the foreigners in front of the door. if yes, it would be just ridiculous!!!

While I don't know if this guy's problem with Tanghui was legitimate or not, most "noise complaints" against clubs in Shanghai are bullshit. You can have a club in the middle of a heavy industry factory district and no residents for blocks, but if there are people (especially foreigners) hanging around outside the door the police will shut it down citing noise complaints from the neighbors.

Good on the old timer. I'm sure we'd all be pissed if a noisy-ass club opened next door. Pretty selfish to stay on and party after you know you're keeping half the block awake. Tang Hui and other newly located clubs need to find locations that are at least a bit away from residential housing.

they came in their pjs and tried wrecking the party, but tanghui was too much for them, and the party kept rockin' on the third floor until the sun came up. sorry for not letting you guys know, but i couldn't steal the show from akufen that night. i'll be leaving town on the 26th to head back to the hills of west virginia and work on my album. my last set will be microlab two + ableton live workshop july 23 sunday afternoon at the lab. microshanghai.com

Great video - that's too good! It could be ominous though, both Julu Lu then Maoming Lu took big hits from annoyed and well connected neighbours.
