<description>&lt;p&gt;To our readers,

Since approximately midnight, we have been unable to access Shanghaiist.com here in Shanghai without the use of a proxy server. Hence, we are currently unable to update the site. We apologize for the inconvenience and, believe us, we hope this problem gets cleared up soon.

Shanghaiist appears to be marginally accessible in other parts of China -- if you are in a position to confirm this, please do -- so we are not really sure what the issue is. We are trying to get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to figure things out. If any of you believe you can add any insight into our current situation, please email shanghaiist at gmail.com.

Sorry again. We hope to be accessible in Shanghai again soon!

Sincerely,
Dan Washburn
Editor, Shanghaiist.com
