GigShanghai: Booty, 'touching guitars' and Supergirl?!?

A shorter show this week, but only on the part of our commentary -- call it a post-80s-laden-weekend-fatigue-syndrome. No lack of effort on the bands' part: This week, we (in just over 10 minutes) cover everything from Chinese Folk Rock to dirty Detroit sounds. Plus we have time to throw in a previous Super Voice Girl finalist (making the choice to cross-over from pop, bless her) and just in case that’s not enough, some flamenco …and all of that time we saved on the show was put into trying to figure out the goshdamn font size while at the same time turn the volume up which we cant do even though we’re supposed to know how to do this producing No. 2 in our GigTV series by catching the I-GO show last weekend (click above).

(Another reminder that there’s a much more in-depth and entertaining Chinese version of this show, as well.)

Here’s what’s on tap:

0:16 – “Eclectic, but cool …”
0:41 – “A weekend in review -- I’ll make this quick …”
1:51 – “He (Zooma) was checking out the boys (Alec and The All Stars) …”
2:23 – “Brad and I are straight -- but I’ll be honest …”
2:40 – Hermanos Carmonas music clip
4:01 – “Could you (Live Bar) just put some backs on the chairs?!”
4:29 – “Please don’t think this is one of those campfire sing-a-long things”
4:42 – Shanghaiist Pick of the Week: Three Yellow Chicken music clip
5:47 – “He (DJ Scott Hess) takes that funkadelic Detroit influence and puts it into his own …”
6:25 – DJ Scott Hess music clip
7:34 – “Money aside, it (Battle of the Bands) would be a great way to get your band into the scene …”
8:28 – Unsigned band -- Dulang music clip
9:24 – “Let me give you a quick rundown
…”

Seeyabye.
