<description>&lt;p&gt;Rural Pennsylvania, meet Rural Ohio.

Our variation is that our school-sponsored bowling was an after-school 6th grade &quot;league&quot; activity. (Yup, we had bowling leagues for 11 and 12-year olds. Yee Haw.)

We&apos;d ride a school bus there on its regular after-school route, then our folks would have to pick us up later.

I vaguely recall there being some pipe-smoking or something thrown in on occasion as well, though that was mainly from Mrs. Beal, the league chaperone.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
