It’s been a week of uncertainties, at least as far as JZ is concerned. Was JR dropped? Is Coco back? When will we see more of Alec and The All-Stars (pictured above)? Did you all find the bank card we lost there on Wednesday? We’d love answers (especially for that last one -- ICBC wants us to go all the way out to Yangpu to get a new one).
If the sol has you in a “if I’m going to sweat then it might as well be combined with pheromones” place, we highly suggest catching the new Hermanos Carmonas at Melting Pot on Fridays … except that tonight, it’s going to be noa showa (meaning that they won’t be there), so we wrote all of that to tell you to catch them next week … ah, the things we do to increase our word count.
A show that is happening tonight, according to Upcoming.org, is the band Shanghai Station at Live Bar. Shanghai Station hails from -- that's right -- Xi'an and they play what they call "gothic melodic metal."
On Saturday at Live Bar, a show that has been happening for the past 10 years or so, is the Three Yellow Chicken gig. With a German teacher at the helm this folk-but-still-rock group headlines the New Oriental Rock show at 9:30 pm.
Also on Saturday, at Yuyintang, will be Mint -- that unique blend of Americana and Britpop -- with Ferris Wheel opening. Show starts at 8:30 pm and tickets are 20 kuai.
And speaking of Mint, Mint the club is giving away free drinks to Leos on Saturday. Perhaps a last attempt before falling victim to the “Tongren Turnaround”?
Good news from Tanghui (that just feels weird to write), they released their official battle of the bands flyer.
And we got a call that the Purple Mountain Pool Party was on, but can’t be asked to scroll through 80 pages of pre-pubescent postings to find out for sure -- can someone just tell us the deal? That would be, like … awesome.
