We like cats and dogs and free drinks

puppybeerglass080906.jpgWell, actually we don't like cats too much since we are allergic, but we love dogs and free drinks. If you do too, you might want to head over to Senses Wine Lounge (515 Jianguo Xi Lu, 龙聚苑酒吧建国西路515号) this week, because they have free drinks for anyone who makes a donation of one kuai (one friggin' kuai) or more to the Shanghai Second Chance Animal Aid organization. That's a deal even the Mouding County police can applaud.

You already missed yesterday's special -- free wine and canapes from 6:30-:8:30 pm -- and as we are writing this they are giving away free Foster's (really, charging anything more than zero for that stuff is a crime) until the two kegs run out. (Unfortunately, Shanghaiist.com has been down for the past 11 hours -- more on that later, we hope -- so us telling you today's special does no one any good.)

So, let's run down the free stuff available for the rest of week:

  • Thursday: Free San Miguel beer from 6:30- 9 pm.
  • Friday: Free Penbro wines from 6:30-8:30 pm.
  • Saturday: Free martinis from 7-9 pm.
  • Sunday: Free sparkling wine and Bloody Mary's from 4-7pm. At dusk, movies shown outside on big screen with free popcorn. First movie: Sideways.

There is no doubting Senses owner Mat Ryan's dedication to the SCAA -- he has shed blood for them. And the great thing about the free drinks deal is that you don't have to think twice about throwing a drink in the faces of the wankers who only donate one kuai.
