Funeral Strippers, the movie!

We reported earlier about the strange phenomenon of the funeral strippers over in Jiangxi, and how a TV expose from the killjoys over CCTV had put an end to this custom. Watching the strippers gyrating in front of the old man (giving him a preview of what his funeral might look like), watching them try to rip the pants off a guy, while children are watching on -- that's some precious footage. Why is it not on the CCTV website, and only on Tudou? Not sure -- CCTV must be congratulating itself for stopping the forces of evil but is no doubt wary of the possibility that, in the age of information, that the idea is going to spread. You can kill people but you can't kill ideas. For every stripper you force out of the business there are two to replace them. The people that organize these events make good money -- 2,000 per show, of which they give about 200 to the performers. So, at about 1800 per show and 20 shows per month and let's say 12 months a year (how cold does it get in Jiangxi in the winters? Do they cover the medical costs if a stripper gets the flu?), that comes out to about what the guy in show says: 200,000 RMB a year. And that's why he's got a several houses and apartments, including one in Nanjing (if we heard correctly). That's also the reason behind the events becoming increasingly risque -- the money is good, and so the competition is fierce. A family often hires two rival "troupes" to perform simultaneously to which one can attract the most people.
